W&M Student Literary Awards Information

Welcome to the William & 玛丽 Student Literary Awards! Every year, the faculty of the Creative Writing program looks forward to reading your creative work and marveling at the range and breadth of writing that occurs at William & 玛丽.

ELIGIBILITY:

The student literary awards are open to any current W&M student, regardless of major, with no previous coursework in creative writing required.

DEADLINE:

Deadline will be in early March. See advertised call for submissions for more details.

GUIDELINES:

Submissions should have a title and your name on it (no anonymous submissions), and should follow the basic formatting expectations for the genre in question. So double-spaced text for fiction/nonfiction, for instance, or basic script formatting for a screenplay. Submissions that do not meet these guidelines will not be considered.

Finalists will be ranked by outside judges unaffiliated with W&M. Winners of the first ($200), second ($100), and third ($50) prizes for each genre will read from their work at the prize ceremony in late April.

Finalists will be notified via email. Please note: We will be unable to notify every awards entrant of their status at that time. Just the finalists.

Winners will be announced during a live awards ceremony in late April.
