艺术的春天!
迎接新的一年:2025年春季将是我们的艺术学期! To complement a freshman seminar on “The World of the Francophone Graphic Novel,” taught by our new colleague Prof. Shahrzad Ghobadlou, this spring we will be hosting conversations with award-winning graphic novelists Marjane Satrapi (best known as the author of Persepolis) and Mana Neyestani (author of Une métamorphose iranienne). Later in the semester we will also be screening Choeurs Atlantiques, a documentary by Prof. Safoi Babana-Hampton (Michigan State) about Francophone artists’ engagement with the history of the slave trade and slavery in the Caribbean. We are delighted to announce that Prof. Babana-Hampton will be delivering our annual Fauvel Lecture on April 11 (3:30 pm, in 201 Washington Hall). The title of this talk is: "The Historical Memory of Slavery and the Slave Trade in Emancipatory Projects by Black French Caribbean Artists Today."
