New Assistant Director: Jay Jolles
Lori Jacobson, Director of the Writing and Communication Center (WCC), is pleased to announce that Jay Jolles has joined the WCC team as the new Assistant Director.
Jay is currently completing his Ph.D. in American Studies at William & 玛丽. He brings extensive experience to the position, having served as a Graduate Writing Consultant at both William & 玛丽's Graduate Writing and Communication Center and Drexel University's Writing Center. Most recently, he worked as an Academic Coach in the Office of Academic Wellbeing and has taught at multiple institutions, including William & 玛丽, Drexel University, and Rutgers University-Camden.
His dissertation, titled "Man, Music, and Machine: Towards a Theory of 21st Century Listening," explores the evolving technological and aesthetic practices that shape contemporary American listening cultures.

"Writing centers create vital spaces for intellectual exchange and growth, and I’m eager to work alongside our talented consultants and staff to further William & 玛丽’s commitment to student success."
Jay holds a B.A. in English from Drexel University, an M.A. in English from Rutgers University-Camden, and will graduate with his Ph.D. in American Studies from William & 玛丽 in May. His research focuses on 20th and 21st-century literature and culture, with particular emphasis on sound studies, trauma theory, and the digital humanities.
