Minimal damage in small fire at Chi Omega

周一早上,Chi Omega姐妹会宿舍发生小火灾,造成的损失很小,没有学生受伤。

William and 玛丽 Police responded when a fire alarm went off at 11:20 a.m. in the house, which is located in Sorority Court off Richmond Road. The fire alarm is connected to the College’s central system, which alerts police dispatch immediately when an alarm is triggered. Williamsburg Fire also responded and quickly contained the fire to a small section inside the wall of the house’s kitchen.

One student was inside the sorority house when the alarm went off. She went to the kitchen area, smelled smoke and safely exited the building.

A William and 玛丽 police officer was the first to respond to the scene and conducted a search of the building. He was taken to Williamsburg Regional Medical Center for smoke inhalation and was treated and released Monday afternoon.

Cause of the fire is under investigation but the fire originated in the wall of the kitchen. College officials hope to have the kitchen wall repaired by the time students return from Spring Break this weekend.
