President Reveley message on state budget (Feb. 10)
威廉玛丽学院院长泰勒·雷维里于2月10日就州预算向学院社区发送了以下信息。 -Ed.
Dear William & 玛丽 Community,
Last Sunday, the General Assembly's House Appropriations and Senate Finance committees submitted competing plans for the Commonwealth's 2008–2010 budget. You can read Sam Jones’s summary of these plans here.
The House and Senate proposals differ in approach and must be reconciled. The plans will also need further attention after revised revenue estimates come from the Governor later this month and a final federal stimulus package is enacted by Congress. Thus, there are many details to be worked out as the General Assembly moves forward.
While both the House and the Senate plans restore some funds for William & 玛丽 previously cut, and the House proposal includes funds to plan phase three of our Integrated Science Center, neither mentions salary support, and the House plan would lessen our capacity to have out-of-state students.
We owe much to Delegate Phil Hamilton and Senator Tommy Norment for their efforts to protect the future of higher education in the Commonwealth, especially at William & 玛丽.
