Reveley: State of the University is promising

从历史性的建筑热潮和密集的战略规划工作到创纪录的捐赠和一流的教职员工,学生和校友,威廉玛丽正在有力地向前发展。

This progress comes despite the frustrations and challenges of the Great Recession, William & 玛丽 President Taylor Reveley says in a "state of the university" message to the William & 玛丽 community.

Taylor Reveley"Despite the financial crisis confronting American higher education, especially those public schools once well supported by the taxpayers, the overall state of our university is quite promising," Reveley said. "The campus remains a place of great natural and architectural beauty, of serious historical significance, and of compelling academic accomplishment."

Hosted on the president's Web site, Reveley's report takes a quick look at the state of William & 玛丽, including the bricks (building boom) and the mortar (people) of William & 玛丽. The president also talks about issues such as state budget cuts and finances, strategic planning, sustainability, and the mascot.

"We're amid a physical transformation of the campus that is producing facilities suitable to the 21st century," Reveley said. "We continue to enjoy record numbers of applicants and welcomed another group of extraordinary new students this fall. William & 玛丽's faculty continues to excel in teaching, scholarship and service. And we just had the most successful fundraising year in the College's history even though we are not in a campaign and recession was roaming the land."
