Strong Wind Advisory

W&M's Emergency Management Team sent the following message to the campus community Oct. 29, 2020. - Ed.

Dear William & 玛丽 Community,

随着飓风泽塔的残余向东移动,国家气象局预测今天下午和今晚威廉斯堡地区将有强风。 Forecasters are expecting wind gusts up to 50 mph. Given the predicted strength of the winds, downed power lines and outages are likely.

  • Stay away from downed wires and report any downed trees or wires to WMPD (x14596).
  • In the event areas of campus lose power, Commons will be the available dining option. Dining Services updates are always available at @wmdining on Instagram and Facebook.
  • Notifications regarding any additional campus services impacted will be communicated through RAVE. If you have not yet enrolled in the university's mass notification system, you may do so in Banner personal service .
  • Facilities Management is working to secure any loose objects across campus and we are working to take down tents as we are able. You should stay away from any tents that remain up during the storm.

We will continue to monitor the weather and update you as necessary.
