Biohazardous Waste
Biohazardous waste is defined as any waste containing infectious materials or potentially infectious substances such as blood or other fluids. Sharp wastes such as needles, blades, glass pipettes and other wastes that can cause injury during handling are of special concern.
All biohazardous waste must be labeled as such and kept only in closed containers. Once full, bags must be tied or taped closed prior to EH&S pickup. Waste must be kept secured at all times and must not be left unsecured in hallways or other open areas.
Biohazardous waste is produced in various areas on campus and is collected by only EH&S staff members that are trained to handle such waste. For a biohazardous waste pickup, please complete the biohazardous waste pickup form.
