Recycling

The EH&S Office is responsible for managing several William & 玛丽 recycling streams, including batteries, light bulbs and oil.

Batteries

Battery Bucket Pickup Request Form

Alkaline batteries are collected at various locations on campus. Recycling buckets can be located in Swem Library, Small Hall and Facilities Management. Lead-acid batteries are collected in a central storage location. Contact the EH&S Office if you have questions regarding the locations for recycling your used batteries.

Light Bulbs

The university utilizes a significant amount of fluorescent bulbs across campus. These bulbs are recycled by crushing them in 55 gallon drums through the use of a specialized device. Please put in a service request if you have light bulbs that ne ed to be recycled.

Oil

We recycle used oil through a company that reclaims and reuses the material. Please contact the EH&S Office if you have used oil that that you would like to recycle. We ask that all staff or faculty who handle oil in their work area complete the EH&S Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures training annually. The class is available online and is announced each year through the W&M Digest.
