04.03.2025: IBC Meeting/Protocol Update

According to the
NIH Guidelines and
NIH FAQs, protocols that fall under the sections A-F of the NIH guidelines are subject to varying levels of review and approval by the IBC.

Section A, B, C, or D must be approved at a convened IBC meeting in which a quorum of members are present.

Protocols under Section E have to be logged in SPARCS and then conditional approval can be granted outside of the convened meeting, but formal approval can only be given at the convened meeting.

Protocols under Section F are exempt from approval at IBC meetings but still must be logged in the system and reviewed by the committee prior to research beginning. Approval can be given "electronically" through SPARCS.
If your project is subject to the NIH Guidelines and requires approval at a meeting, please make note of the following meeting dates below.
Your protocol should be at least 4 weeks prior to the scheduled meeting date (
excluding the month of
April's meeting).
Meeting schedule is as follows:

April 25, Submit protocol by April 8

May 22, Submit protocol by April 29

June 26, Submit protocol by May 29
