New Student Enrollment Requirements
William & 玛丽 has the expectation that each new student will adhere to the requirements for enrollment as listed in the Undergraduate Catalog.
Discipline and Criminal History Form
Prior to enrollment at William & 玛丽 students are required to submit answers to questions about criminal and disciplinary history and to comply with the university's Disclosure of Arrest Policy. The university reserves the right to refund an enrollment deposit and rescind admission for failure to comply with these expectations or in cases where criminal or disciplinary history reveals an unacceptably high risk to the personal safety, academic integrity or core values of the William & 玛丽 community.
You may access the Discipline and Criminal History Form in the first-time-in-college first-year accepted student portal or transfer accepted student portal. Remember to use the email you used on your application to sign in to the portal.
Health Records and Insurance Requirement
Students must submit medical health history and immunization history forms to the Student Health Center by June 1 or January 10, depending on the semester of enrollment. This necessary information is to be submitted online via your W&M credentials (to include uploading of supporting documentation). Additionally, William & 玛丽 requires all students to have health insurance. New students will be enrolled in and billed for the university's Student Insurance Plan should they neither elect nor waive health insurance coverage by July 31 or January 10, depending on the semester of enrollment.
Housing, Dining, and Parking Regulations
Students are required to live in on-campus housing for the first four semesters immediately following their high school graduation, although students who want to live with their families within 60 miles from campus may apply to Residence Life for an exception. Additionally, all students who reside on-campus are required to select a meal plan through W&M Dining. Only under special circumstances, and with prior written approval, are first-time-in-college new students and sophomores allowed to have cars on campus.
New Student Orientation
The New Student Orientation program is required for all new students. Students will receive information regarding the dates of Orientation with their deposit confirmation and are expected to plan accordingly to attend. Failure to attend New Student Orientation and/or complete any required transition initiatives may lead to holds on a student’s account that would prevent course registration.
Final Transcripts
All first-time-in-college new students are required to provide a final high school transcript to the Office of Undergraduate Admission.
Transfer students must provide transcripts with final grades from the preceding semester. All transfer transcripts and test scores should be sent to the Office of the Undergraduate Admission as soon as they are available.
Additionally, incoming transfer students are required to submit the College Report prior to enrolling in classes. The College Report needs to be completed by an official at the institution you most recently attended who has access to student academic and conduct records (the Registrar or Dean of Students office, for example). Please send your College Report via email to transfer@wm.edu.
Student Rights and Responsibilities
The Undergraduate Catalog, the Student Handbook, and the Housing Contract are documents which provide the framework for students’ rights, responsibilities, and requirements throughout the course of the undergraduate degree program. All new students, with the exception of those admitted as FlexTrack, are expected to be enrolled in classes full-time, i.e., no fewer than twelve credits per semester. Students may petition for exceptions in extraordinary circumstances. Students are also expected to read and respond to or abide by official university announcements; these are often sent to the wm.edu account that students are required to maintain during enrollment at the William & 玛丽. The university also sends official communication to students via campus mail. Students should become familiar with the regulations, policies and resources that will lead to their success while at W&M.
Summer School
William & 玛丽 does not encourage first-time-in-college new students to enroll in summer school prior to the first semester of full-time enrollment.
Test Scores
Official Test Scores (ACT/SAT) are required for enrolling students who requested that we consider their test scores as part of their application. At your earliest convenience, please be sure to request to have an official score report delivered to W&M from the testing agency — College Board (SAT - W&M School Code 5佳博体育) or ACT (W&M School Code 4344).
In addition, incoming students should ensure that official IB, AP, Cambridge, and other test reports are sent directly to the university by July 15 for credit evaluation prior to fall semester.
