Welcome to William & 玛丽 and the Williamsburg community. There will be many opportunities throughout your time at William & 玛丽 to be part of positive social change and develop your community-centered leadership, and we offer opportunities to engage specifically for new students.
Engage
Engage is a pre-orientation program that gives you the opportunity to build and serve community at the start of your W&M experience. The program runs the four days preceding Orientation. Alongside other incoming students and led by upperclassmen student leaders, you'll participate in a range of sustainability-focused community experiences, exploring Williamsburg and William & 玛丽. This is a great program for students interested in an early introduction to community engagement and creating a social network before classes even begin. Engage is open to incoming students who will be 18 by the first day of the program.
Civic Leadership Program
The Civic Leadership Program offers 15 select students the opportunity to learn and practice the skills of engaging with their communities and creating positive social change. The program spans a Spring, Summer, and Fall term, includes two one-credit course opportunities, and provides at least $1000 in funding to each participant. Applications open late fall.
