Programs
We are proud to offer programs that create a supportive and respectful campus community and quality programming which not only meets the needs of a diverse student body, but also provides opportunities for meaningful engagement and cross-cultural interactions for the William & 玛丽 community.
Inside Out Theatre
One Tribe, Many Stories is a performance ensemble of students who bring the diverse experiences of William & 玛丽 students to the stage through theatre, dance, and spoken word. Inside Out Theatre started as the brain child of Margie Cook, a former assistant director of the Center for Student Diversity, and Dr. Artisia Green, associate professor of theatre, who realized that there was a need for student stories to be a part of the orientation experience.
As new students begin to experience the Tribe Community during orientation, Inside Out Theatre introduces the rich range of experiences, voices, and stories within the William & 玛丽 family. Using poems and short monologues written by William & 玛丽 students along with selections from published works, One Tribe, Many Stories inspires new students to know that there is a place for them in our community, and challenges students to engage and learn from the many stories, experiences and perspectives they will encounter as a member of the Tribe. Moreover, the performances from Inside Out Theatre empowers students to share their stories so that others may feel empowered and welcomed.
Students who are interested in sharing a performance, will work with the Assistant Director and the Inside Out Theatre team to develop skills in storytelling, acting, improvisation, spoken word, and vocal empowerment. Returning students can submit their work to be part of "One Tribe, Many Stories" and all students can become a part of Inside Out Theatre.
Inside Out Theatre is a recognized student organization who provides a supportive environment for students to create, polish, and perform new works.
